We are now about a month into our Bible Institute at the church in Santiago, Chile. We have 16 students in the institute who are preparing for the ministry! We are excited to see what God is going to do through their lives. Continue to pray for us as we endeavor to reach this country with the gospel!

It’s official! With God’s help, we’ll be planting another church in Santiago, Chile before the end of the year! There are dozens of areas in the city with 100,000+ people and no Bible preaching church. By the end of the year we hope there will be one less area without the good news!!
We need your prayers!! There are many details to coordinate with a new church plant. Thank you for your involvement with our ministry!
More details to come…

Tonight we have our usual mid-week service with an added bonus of a special presentation from the Patch the Pirate Kid’s Club. After the service a group of young teens are heading to the coast for a two day retreat - tomorrow is a holiday in Chile. In the morning, I’ll make the trip to the coast to be with the teens and youth leaders for a few hours. I’m looking forward to the teaching theme of the retreat - spiritual warfare! Saturday, I’m back in the usual events of visitation, meetings, message prep, and the evening youth meeting. Sunday morning we have a baptism service planned. God willing at least 13 or 14 will be baptized. I’ll try to put up some pictures of the retreat and the baptisms in a few days.
Don’t forget to follow our ministry and family on Twitter and on facebook.

Often in world evangelism articles and books I read of the great need among the unreached people groups of the world, and doubtless the need is grave!! At the same time, these articles tend to cast doubt on the true spiritual darkness in Latin America. Some even say that Latin America has been evangelized and needs no more missionaries.
Sitting in an office in some distance city, this sounds like an interesting thesis… but being a ground soldier in one of South America’s largest cities, I can attest to the urgent need for gospel preaching churches and missionaries!! There are literally millions who have never heard a clear presentation of the gospel.
Last night as I sat in the home of a young couple and shared the gospel with them, the husband gave a clear testimony of salvation. Then, the catholic wife told me she had never heard anyone explain to her the simple plan of salvation. Moments later, she made the life-altering decision to accept Christ!
Latin America has seen a growth in Evangelical-Pentecostal churches over the last few decades… but most of these churches are filled with ill-prepared pastors who do little to proclaim the gospel. The sad truth is that most of their congregations have no more assurance of their relationship with Christ as do the blind followers of the Catholic church!
We need faithful preachers of sound doctrine who are charged with an evangelistic zeal to reach the masses. Will you pray will me today that God will raise up such men to reach these countries with the gospel?

The majority of mainstream Christian leaders these days are emphasizing social events in their communities instead of the clear teaching and preaching of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Although the Bible is very clear about our responsibility to assist and aid the orphans, widows, and poor, this by no means negates our primary responsibility which is to preach the gospel!
The Bible is very clear. The gospel has power to save and change lives (Romans 1:16). We can feed hungry stomachs, educate the illiterate, house the homeless, and treat the diseased, but if we do not address the elephant in the room – their spiritual problem; we are simply ignoring the greatest need they have. How selfish and stupid it is for us to focus on the momentary suffering and ignore the eternal!
We shouldn’t apologize for clear teaching and firm preaching of the Bible. We need churches in every community, around each country that has a passion for souls and dedication to Christ’s Great Commission (Matthew 28:17-20). This is precisely what Chile and every other country needs.
If you use these social gospel ministries to provide an opportunity to give a clear presentation of the gospel, excellent!! But, let’s not get off track from our God given purpose as Christians.
Be sure to check back in a day or two… I will continue to write about this topic. Also, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Today marks the 159th anniversary of the death of America’s first foreign missionary, Adoniram Judson. At the age of 25, Adoniram left for the shores of Burma to preach the wonderful news that we are celebrating this Easter Sunday.
By the end of his life on earth, he had translated the Bible into Burmese and established over 100 churches with more than 8,000 faithful converts following Christ!
This Easter, pray that God will call more men and women to give their lives to reach the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Semana Santa means “Holy Week” and is the usual way Chileans refer to the week leading up to Easter. During this week, the faithful Catholics participate in many different masses and processions. Last night as Lori and I returned home from a date (praise the Lord for some time together!!) we ran across one of these processions.

The people take a somber, penitent attitude during these days as they search for forgiveness through fasting, prayers, and church attendance. Tomorrow, during our Easter services, we’ll help people know where they can find the true source of forgiveness!
Pray with us that God will open the blinded eyes of millions!!
Efesios 2:8-9 Porque por gracia sois salvos por medio de la fe; y esto no de vosotros, pues es don de Dios; no por obras, para que nadie se gloríe.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The past few weeks have been quite abnormal as we changed houses in Santiago. Now we are settled in and getting back to a normal schedule. God willing, we should be back to blogging regularly.
Thanks for your prayers and support for our ministry!
