Here’s an update from our colleague Jason Kenney:

The last few days it has been around 27° to 30°…in Celsius. For us, it’s not beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, but more like summer camp. We have six weeks before camp!

Today we met with a group of guys from the Bible College to follow up on the plans for camp and lay out the preaching and teaching schedule. During the week there will be 4 devotional times, 6 teaching sessions, 4 messages, plus small group times. We will have plenty of fun and games, but we also put a strong emphasis on the teaching, training, and preaching of the Bible.

The theme for camp this year is “Corre para Ganar” or Run to Win. Camp is one of the highlights of the year. Not only is it a wonderful, fun time, but it is also a spiritually packed intensive week that changes lives for the glory of God and cause of Christ!

Since I arrived to Chile in 2005, God has formed a team of Chilean and foreign church planters with a common goal of reaching this country for His glory.  I encourage you to faithfully pray for these families:

  1. Jason and Lori Holt arrived to Chile in February 2005
  2. Ivan Chacon, a Peruvian pastor, joined the team in September 2005
  3. Jason and Jenny Kenney arrived to Chile in December 2007
  4. Chris and Stephanie Mcbryar came to Chile in June 2008
  5. Susan Moore  leaves for Chile in the spring of 2012
  6. Josh and Elizabeth Ewing should be in Chile by late 2012 or early 2013.
  7. Patrick and Leslie Henry will serve a 6 month term in Chile from July-December 2012
  8. Travis Birge will serve a 6 month internship in Chile from March-August 2012
  9. A young lady will serve a 9 month term in Chile from March-December to assist with teaching missionary children and ministering in local church activities.  Read more about how you could be that young lady!
I am so very privileged to work along side this fantastic group!! I can’t help but think that God is going to radically impact Chile with the gospel through this team!

We are very excited that God has led Susan Moore to partner with our team in Santiago, Chile.  Susan has already diligently raised 85% of her support!  God willing, she will leave for Chile in the spring of 2012.

I have known Josh and his wife Elizabeth for more than 15 years.  He has a great testimony and has been used by God in local church ministries in the USA and Indonesia.  During the past few months, God has called the Ewings to be church planting missionaries to Chile.  Together we plan to continue planting multiple churches throughout Santiago and the rest of the country.  We are so excited about this family.  Please be praying for them as they finish raising funds to leave for Chile by the end of 2012.

Our Story

Since arriving in Chile in 2005, God has allowed Jason Holt and his family to start three churches and a Bible college in the capital city of Santiago.  They are passionate about preparing young men and women to reach Chile with the Gospel.  Each of the young churches is now being pastored by men Jason has prepared.  One of those pastors is Nicolas Mazzella.

Several years ago this once agnostic liquor salesman could have never imagined the transformation that was going to take place in his life.  Months after seeing the change God had brought in his wife and children’s lives after accepting Christ as Savior, Nicolas came to the feet of Jesus too. Now, four years later, he is pastoring the Iglesia Bautista Omega (Omega Baptist Church).  It’s amazing to see this man who once was destroyed by sin now lead a growing congregation of new believers. 

Our Need

Since this church was planted about 18 months ago, dozens of people have been saved by God’s grace.  The community building they rent 2 days a week for church activities is no longer adequate for the growing church.  

As they began to pray about this need some months ago, God led them to an ideal piece of land at a bargain price!  But land is very expensive in this densely populated capital city.  They still need over $40,000 to buy the property and build a small building.  Please pray with them that God would supply this need in the next few months.
