During the last 7 days, several great friends came to visit us in Chile. Trent Cornwell was the invited speaker for our church and Bible college. Trent and I met at college nearly 10 years ago and since then we have maintained a good friendship. Trent, who serves as the youth pastor of my home church, did a fantastic job preaching God’s Word during the four day conference. Also, he taught 16 hours in the Bible College! His dynamic personality and thoughtful insights into practical spiritual growth helped our young leaders grow in their commitment with the Lord and His work.
Jeremy Hall and Chris Waye came along with Trent for the week. Jeremy is a church planting missionary who is serving in Arequipa Peru. Chris and his family are currently in Peru on a 6 month internship. He is praying about where God would have him go as a missionary in the future. Both these guys gave their testimonies and preached throughout the week. They were both a great encouragement to my family and our church family. I would highly recommend both of these men as great candidates for your missions investment!! Contact them to learn how you can partner with them in their ministry.

My son Joshua will turn five in June. He’s already led us to the Emergency room on several occasions!! I suppose boys will be boys!
This Sunday night after the second presentation of the Easter play, he was playing with some kids in the parking lot… then we heard the screams and saw the blood! Shortly after those initial moments of excitement, we were in the ER getting him stitched up and getting two teeth pulled.
Thankfully he seems to be doing fine now. Hopefully during the next few years we can steer clear of the ER with our 3 kids!!!

In Chile rarely do people talk about Easter. It’s all about “holy week“. I suppose this is due to the heavy and historical Catholic influence over the country and culture. We decided to use this week to reach many with the gospel!
Our young people, with the help of a few adults, hosted a play about the death of Christ. God totally used the event!! During the two presentation of the play, over 250 people attended, 10 accepted Christ, and dozens of unbelievers heard a clear and concise presentation of the gospel.
It’s thrilling to see God move! Thanks for praying with us about this event!!

As most of you know, Chile is on the other side of the hemisphere. In South America we’re in fall… as you North Americans enter Spring. Because of the earth’s tilt, you guys enjoy warmer weather and longer days as we enjoy (yes, I enjoy cold weather!!) the cold and shorter days. Because both the USA and Chile use daylight savings time, for half the year we are 2 hours ahead of EST and half the year we have the same time as EST. I know, it’s kinda odd!
This weekend, we “fall back”. So for the next 6 months we’ll be on the same hour as EST!
God’s creation is amazing, isn’t it??

Our church is banding together today for 24 hours of prayer. We are asking God to give us wisdom about two church planting projects…
First, we need to rent a permanent location for the mission church. This would allow us to add an additional weekly service and children’s ministries. Pray that God will lead us to the right location!
Second, we are planning to plant a new church about 2 miles from our main church. Let me explain the reasons for this decision. Within a 10 minute walk of our main church live more than 40,000 people! Over 80% of our congregation walks to church. Very few of those families walks more than a mile! Just two miles from our church lies another unreached, untapped population group that needs a local Bible preaching church!! We are praying that God will lead us to a building to rent, give us the right leaders for these projects, and provide the needed funds to launch into the deep with these two projects simultaneously!
Pray with us! Our 24 prayer chain starts this evening at 7:00 pm and ends tomorrow at the same time!

Just a first few days after the earthquake, we took a group of eight men from our church into the hardest hit regions of Chile to deliver food and medicine. We made contact with two pastors who helped distribute the supplies to neediest in the area.

While in the city of Concepción, we also handed out more than 25,000 gospel tracks to the survivors of the tragic quake. Their hearts were definitely open and tender to the gospel after having been abruptly reminded of the brevity of life.

Please continue to pray that God will use these events to bring more people to a personal relationship with Jesus.
We also want to thank all those who have given to the Chile Earthquake Relief project!! I’ll post another update soon to show you all that we were able to do with your donations!

Today we got word from some of the hardest hit areas of Chile around the city of Concepcion. People literally do not have water, bread, food, and in some cases a roof over their heads. There are people living in one of the local churches because their homes are no longer standing.
To help in the incredible need, we plan to travel from Santiago to Concepción on Thursday morning (in less than 32 hours) with a team of eight men to accomplish two goals:
1. We plan to distribute over 40,000 gospel tracks to those who are suffering and need the hope of Christ. As God gives us the opportunity we will preach the gospel on the streets and in local parks.
2. We’re also taking food and medical supplies to help many who are suffering through this tragedy.
To accomplish these two goals, WE NEED YOUR HELP! Today you can donate funds to purchase food and medical supplies to help with this urgent need online through Paypal.
Or you can send a check to:

Please help us get the word out about this great opportunity. We have a very short time frame to organize this project. If you plan to donate, tell us immediately so we can buy supplies tomorrow!
Thank you for partnering with us to serve the people of Chile.
